About CTV:

Staten Island Community Television (SICTV) was founded in 1983 as a result of a franchise agreement between the city of New York and Staten Island Cable (now Spectrum). Permanently opened in 1988, SICTV is organized as a not-for-profit corporation under IRS Code 501C3 and currently has a board of directors appointed by the Borough President of Staten Island. SICTV provides comprehensive television production training for eligible community members. Eligible members are defined as Staten Island Residents or individuals affiliated with Staten Island based Not-For-Profit Organizations. Volunteers, who assume all responsibility for materials submitted for cablecast, produce programming from start to finish. Access to channel space is on a First-Come, First-Served Basis. Equipment and channel usage is free of charge to eligible community members.

SICTV has studios and office space on Mariners Harbor. This facility is open to the public.

About the Internship:

The CTV Sports Associate Internship allows students to train – for free – to be a CTV producer. Interns will learn the various functions of CTV’s studios, including studio camera operations, audio set up and mixing, Tri-Caster, studio set ups and how to function as a member of a TV crew. Students in our sports program will go on the road to local sports games, including the Ferry Hawks, to record games and do some sportscasting. Please note that this is an unpaid internship.

Eligibility:

Students in grades 9-12 and in college and whose primary address is on Staten Island are eligible to apply for the internship. Proof of address is required.

To apply:

Please send a resume and cover letter indicating your interest to Jennifer Sammartino, Executive Director, via email, at jennifer@sictv.org.

Applications for the sports internships are due by April 15. The sports internship program for college students begins in May and ends in August.

Thank you.
