Executive Producer
Manages budget and coordinates with client, station management, advertising agencies, financial supporters, and talent.

Producer
Responsible for all personnel working on a production and for coordinating all elements, technical and other, for that production. Driving force behind overall vision. In a newscast, would select and place stories or “stack” the show.

Director
In charge of directing talent and technical operations. Ultimately responsible for transforming a script into effective audio and video messages. Transforms a producer’s vision into a technical reality.

Associate Director (AD)
Assists director during actual production. Assists in timing and pacing of show and in keeping various operations “ready” (a camera shot, VTR roll-in etc.).

Talent
Refers to all performers and actors who regularly appear on television.

Floor Manager
In charge of all activities on the studio floor. Directs talent, relays director’s cues to talent and supervises floor personnel. Also called Floor Director or Stage Manager.

Technical Director (TD)
Performs the switching and acts as technical crew chief.

Camera Operator
Operate the cameras during broadcast. In ENG/Field production, are often called videographers or shooters.

Audio Technician
In charge of all audio operations. Runs the audio console/mixing board during broadcast. Audio Refernce

Videotape Operator (Tape Op)
Runs the videotape machine for record and playback functions.

Character Generator (CG) Operator
Types and/or recalls graphics material from the CG to be mixed with video during broadcast.

Anchor
Principal presenter of newscast, normally from a desk on a studio set.

Reporter
Gathers stories and reports them most often from the field.
